History A Tradition Of Service In 1883 Mr. Geoffrey Beavan commenced business in Station Street, Bowral as a Funeral Director with a simple philosophy of "Caring for People". In 1920 his son Oliver Geoffrey Beavan continued the Beavan family tradition of serving the families of the Southern Highlands of NSW until his death at the age of 73 years. The descendants of those early pioneering families are to this day still cared for at a time of need in the Beavan family tradition. G. Beavan's Horse-Drawn Hearse
Found in a dilapidated condition in a barn in the western district of Victoria, it was purchased by G. Beavan and painstakingly restored by a coachbuilder in Castlemaine who identified the timber as Baltic Pine and the axles of English origin. The hearse is a 'Zijlader' or side loading model and is regarded as the finest restored model of its kind in Australia. Although normally on static display, it is still used on funerals if requested. It also makes regular appearances in parades and shows and has received numerous awards. G. Beavan Funerals 34 Station St, Bowral NSW 2576 Australia |
